The Chhati Mahotsav or the naming ceremony of Lord Krishna was celebrated in the temple between 2-6 pm by a large gathering of Lady Devotees. Many of them danced on the songs depicting the child-sports and valour of Him in Gokul and Vrindavan. In the end, Prasad comprising sweets and fruits was distributed to all.
Gargacharya, the famous Pujari and astrologer came to visit Maa Yashoda and Nand Baba at Gokul and predicted that their newly born child would bring joy to whole the world. So he named Him Krishna. In Sanskrit word ‘Krish’ means ‘World and Suffix’ ‘Na’ denotes ‘joy’. Lord Krishna brought joy to the religious people, saints, Brahmins and the downtrodden masses by protecting and promoting the religious and eliminating the evil doers. He began his divine campaign against the evil forces and the evil doers of the society by eliminating Demoness Putana, when he was a few days old only. By His infant sports and valour he showered joy to his parents, His companions, Gopes and Gopies. At the age of 12 years he had to depart from the Gokul village forever, leaving Radha and all the companions, Gopes, Gopies and his foster parents, and arrived at Mathura and killed its cruel king Kans. He carried out this campaign of eliminating the cruel kings and freeing thousands of innocent men and women from their prison, including lastly the egoistic and arrogant warriors of his own Yadu race. His message to the humanity in Gita is a source of solace, lasting peace, prosperity and liberation.

He is named Govind-protector of cows and righteous persons, Hari because he absolve all the sins and suffering, JaganNath-owner/ruler of the world, Narayan- Nar + ayan (resting), i.e.; shelter of all living beings and seated in their hearts, Vasudeva-Vasu (pervading) +dev (diety) i.e., pervading in and pervaded by all matter, animate and inanimate. Saints have given him Sahstranam-thousand names. Chanting of these thousand names leads to a path of liberation as well as lasting peace and prosperity.
